The Fight

DoT strategy: Poison/HP Burn ticks crossing his 80/60/45/30/15% HP thresholds do NOT trigger Frigid Vengeance (AoE counter + revives minions to 100% + Freeze chance +40% and 50% DEF-ignore per living minion). NEVER bring Counterattack buffs — counters chain-trigger the passive. Almighty Immunity: immune to Stun, Freeze, Sleep, Provoke, Block Active Skills, Fear and True Fear, plus HP-exchange and cooldown manipulation — Freeze/Provoke land on the minions only. His Numbing Chill (4-turn CD) AoE places 50% Dec ACC for 2 turns and must be cleansed or your resistible poisons miss; the two minions apply Heal Reduction and Dec DEF. Stages 21-25 add two more passives: Almighty Strength caps damage from MAX-HP-scaling SKILLS at 10% of the boss's MAX HP, and Almighty Persistence halves all Turn Meter reduction — Aox's A2 TM drop and Geomancer's A3 TM depletion are both worth half on IG-21+. HARD MODE (Tainted Klyssus) is a different fight entirely: he is 'Immune to [Poison] and [Poison Sensitivity] debuffs' and 'Receives 10% more damage from [HP Burn] debuffs', and every HP Burn activation on him or his minions destroys 5% of the minions' MAX HP (Smite 10%; 50% destruction cap). The poison core below is a NORMAL-mode team — see the Hard Mode alt.

Affinity

Rotates: Spirit stages 1/5/9/13/17/20/24 (Magic strong), Magic 2/6/10/14/18/21/25 (Spirit strong), Force 3/7/11/15/19/23, Void 4/8/12/16/22. IG-20 = Spirit boss; IG-25 = Magic boss. Supreme Kael (Void) is neutral on every stage, which removes most of the affinity noise the Banshee-led comp had.

Levers

  • No Counterattack buffs, ever — Frigid Vengeance counters chain into more thresholds until one side is dead.
  • Handle minions before pushing boss HP: they land Heal Reduction + Dec DEF, and each living minion adds +40% Freeze chance and 50% DEF-ignore to the threshold AoE. Akemtum's Hex spread (normal) or Block Revive (hard) both work.
  • Let poison/burn ticks carry HP across the 80/60/45/30/15% thresholds — DoT crossings skip the passive entirely; save nukes for just after a threshold.
  • ACC pressure is much lower since Supreme Kael took the poison seat: his poisons, his debuff extension and his 50% Dec RES are all unresistible, and his A3 buffs the team with 50% Inc ACC. Akemtum and Aox still want the ~stage+10x rule (IG-20 ≈ 230+), and Doompriest's per-turn strip of the 50% Dec ACC is what keeps that honest.
  • Leader aura: Geomancer's +25% Ally HP leads. Aox's aura is Doom-Tower-only (+60 ACC) and is dead here; Frozen Banshee's +35 ACC all-battles aura leaves with her. If you re-field a resistible debuffer, Vogoth (+40 ACC) is the aura body to bench-swap in. Khamir Scald-Eye adds a +20% Ally SPD all-battles option, but on a slow-roll DoT comp the HP aura still wins.
  • Slow-roll comp: boss is immune to Stun/Freeze/Sleep/Provoke/Block Skills/Fear/True Fear — sustain beats speed; gear the DoT core tanky.
  • IG-21+ only: Almighty Persistence halves all Turn Meter reduction, so Aox's A2 20% TM drop and Geomancer's A3 full TM depletion are worth half; Almighty Strength caps MAX-HP-scaling SKILL damage at 10% of boss MAX HP (it does not cap Poison/HP Burn debuff ticks).
  • Tome priority for this dungeon: Supreme Kael A2 chance books (75% → 100% triple-poison) plus its CD −1, then Geomancer A3 fully booked (100% HP Burn on a 3-turn cycle), then Bad-el-Kazar's A2 books to bring the cleanse inside Numbing Chill's 4-turn cadence. For the hard-mode lane, Keberon's A3 chance books (75% → 100% AoE burn) now matter too. Frozen Banshee's A3 books are no longer a priority for Ice Golem.
  • IG-20 is a Spirit boss and Aox/Doompriest/Geomancer are all Force, so expect weak-hit noise on the Dec ATK and burn rolls — Supreme Kael (Void) and Taurus (Magic, HH 9/10) are the affinity-neutral and affinity-strong answers respectively.
  • HARD MODE IS NOW A LIVE LANE (2026-08-26): Keberon 6★ + Khamir Scald-Eye give the Tainted Klyssus alt five built bodies today. Graal (Queue #12) and Searsha (Queue #18) remain the 10/10 end-state — their queue positions now upgrade a fieldable team rather than unlock a parked one.

Swaps

  • Armanz the MagnificentM

MINION UTILITY ONLY (audit 2026-09-01). HellHades gives 9/10 but the boss is immune to Stun, Block Active Skills and cooldown manipulation, and stages 21+ halve his Turn Meter theft. What actually works is his A2 against the two minions — real, but a support role rather than a 5-rating. Suggested rating: 3.

  • Frolni the MechanistM

UNVERIFIED RISK — check before ever fielding (audit 2026-09-01). His alt-form passive Ensorcelled Plate reflects 80% of damage received. [Reflect Damage] is a distinct buff from [Counterattack] and does not consume a turn, so it probably does not trip Frigid Vengeance — but this record's counterattack ban exists precisely because retaliation chains thresholds, and no source was found confirming reflect is safe. HH has him 8/10 normal and only 6/10 hard, so there is little upside in taking the risk.

  • The Cowardly LionM

BANNED FROM THIS DUNGEON (audit 2026-09-01), on two independent grounds, and this is the worst rating error the 34-team audit found. (1) Klyssus's Almighty Immunity names Fear and True Fear explicitly, killing A2's True Fear, A1's Fear-stacking damage bonus and his True Courage passive. (2) HIS A3 STRENGTH IN THE PACK PLACES [COUNTERATTACK] ON ALL ALLIES, and this record's first lever is 'No Counterattack buffs, ever — Frigid Vengeance counters chain into more thresholds until one side is dead.' He does not merely underperform here, he loses the fight. HellHades rates him 9/10; that rating does not survive contact with this boss's passive. Suggested rating: 1.

  • Starsage GalathirF

THE CLEANSE-SEAT ALTERNATIVE, recorded 2026-09-01 as a genuine two-way call rather than a swap. Bad-el-Kazar keeps the Ideal seat because Prey Upon gives every ally +20% damage against Poisoned targets — a flat multiplier across four poison seats on a fight the levers describe as a slow roll — and his two books bring the cleanse to CD 3, inside Numbing Chill's 4-turn cadence. GALATHIR IS THE ANSWER IF RUNS ARE BEING LOST TO MISSED CLEANSES: base-form A2 Stellar Embryo removes ALL debuffs from ALL allies natively on CD 4 with no books (this record's own Team Now note concedes Doompriest's Bolster is 'a per-turn probabilistic strip… not a guaranteed full cleanse'), heals the team 25% of HIS MAX HP, fills TM 15%, and layers Block Debuffs so Numbing Chill's 50% Decrease ACC never lands at all. His passive cuts damage 5% per 100 RES to a 25% cap and holds him at 1 HP on a fatal hit; A3 revives the team. Fresh HH 10/10 normal, 9/10 hard, overall 10. AURA CONSEQUENCE: if he is ever seated, re-run the leader decision — his 80 Ally RES in all battles is a materially different lead from Geomancer's 25% HP on a fight whose primary threat is a RESISTIBLE Decrease ACC. Two-form champion, so form state is not controlled on full auto.

  • Bad-el-KazarF

6★ built — HH 10/10 (tied best Ice Golem score on the account, re-verified 2026-08-26), Ayumi 4.5★. Passive Prey Upon gives ALL allies +20% damage against Poisoned targets, a flat multiplier on every tick this team produces; A1 Dark Sphere is a no-cooldown AoE that heals the whole team; A2 Malice removes all debuffs from all allies, adds two 15% Cont Heals and two 5% AoE Poisons that feed Akemtum. CORRECTION to the prior record: his cleanse is A2 on a 5-turn cooldown (7 tomes to shorten it), NOT an every-turn cleanse — only the A1 heal is every turn. Takes the Doompriest seat now that he is 6★ (2026-07-30) — booking Malice's two Cooldown −1s (5→3) is the remaining step.

  • Keberon the UnderflameF

NOW 6★ (2026-08-26) — and the burn lynchpin that makes the Hard Mode alt FIELDABLE for the first time. HH 9/10 Ice Golem normal AND 9/10 hard; Ayumi 5★ normal / 4★ hard (kit verified this audit). A3 Pyrenei Power: AoE with 75% chance of 2-turn HP Burn on all enemies + 50% Inc ACC on all allies + 20% TM per burn placed. A1 is 2 hits with a 75% chance of 60% Dec DEF, and re-fires (50% chance, once per turn) whenever an enemy's HP Burn activates; passive heals him 20% MAX HP per burn activation and places True Fear when a burn expires. Nothing on his kit is Counterattack. CAVEAT vs the old note: his damage is NOT purely ticks — the A1 re-fire is a direct 2-hit attack, so threshold discipline applies. In NORMAL mode he lost the burn seat to Geomancer on aura + Stoneguard (HH tie 9/10); first man off the bench there.

  • Khamir Scald-EyeM

6★ Legendary (July 2026 fragment fusion; full record added 2026-08-31). HH 9/10 IG normal / 8 hard; Ayumi 4★ normal / 4★ hard (kit verified this audit). A3 revives ALL dead allies at 50% HP / 50% TM + 60% Inc DEF + Strengthen; A2 fills team TM 25% + 50% Inc ATK + 30% Inc SPD; A1 heals all allies 2×5% of his MAX HP and restores destroyed MAX HP; +20% Ally SPD all-battles aura. NO cleanse anywhere in the kit, no Dec ATK, no DoT — which is why a 9/10 body holds no normal-mode seat in this comp. Fifth seat of the Hard Mode alt, and the account-wide insurance body when a run is dying to attrition.

  • Dorothy GaleS

6★ Legendary (Echoes of Oz login champion; full record added 2026-08-31). HH 8/10 IG / 8 hard. Her toolkit misses this fight: AoE buff strip with nothing to strip (Klyssus does not self-buff per the record), and her control lands only on minions through Almighty Immunity. Bench here — her HH 9/10s are Dragon, Spider, Fire Knight and Arena.

  • JintoroM

NOW 6★ (2026-08-26). HH 8/10 IG normal but only 5/10 hard — and he is a single-target direct-damage executioner: every hit rolls threshold risk, and nothing in his kit is DoT, cleanse or Dec ATK. Bench for this dungeon; his 10/10s are Clan Boss and Spider.

  • Frozen BansheeM

Lost her seat to Supreme Kael. Still a fine 6★ poison body for sub-20 farming and the cheapest +35 ACC all-battles aura on the account, but her engine is conditional and resistible: A3 Frost Blight must land 25% Poison Sensitivity (5-turn CD, 3 booked) before A1 poisons anything, and Numbing Chill's 50% Dec ACC blanks exactly that chain. HH 7/10, Ayumi 3★ normal / 1★ hard, and absent from Ayumilove's Ice Golem tier list.

  • Crypt-King GraalM

Queue #12 — the hard-mode burn end-state. HH 10/10 IG HARD (8 normal, re-verified 2026-08-26). A2 Death Fires is an AoE HP Burn (75%, 100% booked) that hits the minions too; A3 extends every HP Burn to 3 turns unresistibly and freezes burned minions (the boss is Freeze-immune); A1 is a GUARANTEED 50% Dec ATK into any burned or frozen target. Ayumi 5★ normal and 5★ hard. Aura +33% Ally HP in all battles. Still 5★ — takes the Khamir seat in the Hard Mode alt when built.

  • Searsha the CharredF

Queue #18 — HH 10/10 IG HARD (9 normal, re-verified 2026-08-26), Ayumi 4★ normal / 5★ hard. A2 Forest Fire strips all buffs and places HP Burns that are PROTECTED on Bosses, plus AoE Block Buffs; A3 carries 60% Dec DEF + 30% Dec SPD + Hex. Aura +19% Ally SPD in all battles. Still 5★ — takes the Aox seat in the Hard Mode alt when built.

  • UrticataS

DROPPED from the build queue 2026-08-14 — restores the 25% Poison Sensitivity amp the team loses with Frozen Banshee, and her passive procs bonus poisons off Akemtum's Hex. +15% SPD aura in all battles. HH 8/10, Ayumi 3★. Do NOT stack her Sensitivity with Myciliac Priest Orn's.

  • HotatsuM

Queue #22 — HH 9/10. AoE 50% Dec ATK stacks with Aox, team 60% Inc DEF + Cont Heal blunts the AoEs, passive self-cleanses the minions' junk. +25% Ally DEF aura. First-choice swap when a sustain seat opens.

  • Gliseah SoulguideF

6★ built. HH 9/10, Ayumi 4★ (the prior record's '5★' was too high). AoE Freeze locks the MINION waves only — the boss has Almighty Immunity to Freeze — and A3's Block Debuffs blanks Numbing Chill's Dec ACC for a cycle.

  • VogothS

6★/a1, HH 10/10. Provoke/sustain anchor with a +40 ACC all-battles aura — the aura pick if you keep a resistible debuffer in the comp. Outrates the Rector swap for this dungeon.

  • Dhukk the PiercedM

Queue #25 — HH 10/10. AoE 50% Dec ATK blunts the frost hits while crit-proc Dec DEF shreds; triple Provoke + self-Unkillable eats scary turns (Provoke lands on minions only).

  • KaidenM

HH 10/10 — AoE 50% Dec ATK on a 3-turn cycle once the A3 books land, plus a double revive that absorbs mistakes on 20+.

  • Melga SteelgirdleS

Queue #23 — HH 9/10, Ayumi 5★. Team Shield worth 20% of her MAX HP + 15% Continuous Heal + a revive. Shields are not Counterattack, so nothing here trips Frigid Vengeance.

  • Countess LixM

Queue #21 — HH 10/10. AoE Block Active Skills denies the MINIONS' scary casts (the boss is immune to Block Active Skills); Dec SPD + TM drain slow the waves, though Almighty Persistence halves TM effects on 21+.

  • TaurusM

HH 9/10, Ayumi 5★. Third AoE max-HP poison applier (four 5% Poisons on all enemies); self-Unkillable safely eats a Frigid Vengeance AoE. Magic — strong on IG-20's Spirit boss.

  • Myciliac Priest OrnS

Queue #31 — Poison Sensitivity + on-demand poison detonation, HP-scaled so the threshold AoEs do not delete him. Ayumi 4★; HellHades has a page for him but returns NO ice-golem rating, so the prior record's 'HH 10/10' is unverified. Do not stack his Sensitivity with Urticata's.

  • Occult BrawlerS

Queue #32 — Ayumi 5★ but HH is only 7/10 (the prior record's 'HH 9/10' was wrong). Pure single-target poison damage that crosses the thresholds safely, and his escalating A2 needs no team support to reach the DEF-ignore/always-crit tiers.

  • Gwyndolin the SilentF

Built 6★, HH 9/10 — A1 50% extend-ALL-debuffs + AoE Dec SPD/Dec ACC/Leech + A3 Inc ACC. Direct-damage nuker: her hits DO trigger thresholds, so slot her only with Dec ATK up.

  • ExcruciatorM

Block Revive route, and the mandatory minion answer in HARD mode where duplicated poison no longer works — one-shot the side-adds and lock them out; Block Revive needs no ACC. Maeve is the bench-tier backup.

  • AnaxS

Built 6★ fourth poison + Weaken/Dec DEF; feeds Akemtum's Hex re-fire. HH 7/10 — bench tier now that Supreme Kael holds the poison seat.

  • SineshaF

HH 9/10 — execute hits + skill-lock (A2) on the minions; HP-equalize answers the AoE chip.

  • Umbral EnchantressV

A3 AoE Provoke locks the minions (boss is Provoke-immune) + self-Unkillable soaks threshold AoEs; A2 Block Buffs. 4★.

  • SachiF

AoE Dec ACC blinds minion Heal Reduction/Dec DEF; ATK buff + TM fill for a nuke variant.

  • Rector DrathF

Built 6★ heavier direct healing if Doompriest's passive sustain isn't enough.

  • FenshiF

Poison-count DEF-ignore burst finisher — endgame nuke only; his direct hits trigger thresholds.

  • KaelM

Affinity/farm swap — AoE poison depth for sub-20 speed runs. Superseded by Supreme Kael everywhere it matters.

Alternative Comps

Ideal (fully built)

dream team

If every owned champ were 6★ + booked + geared — the build-goal lineup for Ice Golem NORMAL.

Re-validated 2026-08-26 against the new arrivals — none of Khamir (no cleanse/Dec ATK/DoT), Dorothy (nothing to strip, control blanked by Almighty Immunity), Keberon (burn seat lost to Geomancer on aura + Stoneguard) or Jintoro (threshold-triggering direct damage) displaces a seat. One seat differs from the fieldable five: Bad-el-Kazar (already 6★; 7 tomes into A2 still to spend) takes the cleanse seat from Doompriest. HH rates him 10/10 vs her 9/10, and his Prey Upon passive gives the whole team +20% damage against Poisoned targets — a multiplier on every tick this comp produces, on top of two extra AoE poisons for Akemtum. Close call: Ayumilove marginally prefers Doompriest (5★ vs 4.5★), and the real risk is cadence — his cleanse is A2 on a 5-turn cooldown, so the A2 books are mandatory to match Numbing Chill's 4-turn cycle. If runs fail specifically to Decrease ACC, keep Doompriest. Geomancer keeps the lead (+25% HP) in both lineups; Bad-el-Kazar's +25% C.RATE aura is dead weight on a DoT team.

Hard Mode (Tainted Klyssus)

burn / anti-poison-immunity

Ice Golem HARD, where the boss is immune to Poison and Poison Sensitivity and takes +10% from HP Burn. FIELDABLE as of 2026-08-26: Keberon's 6★ ascension plus the new Khamir Scald-Eye fill the last two seats with built bodies.

UPDATED 2026-09-01: ARTAK replaces Khamir Scald-Eye at Ideal. Hard mode's damage engine is burn ACTIVATIONS rather than burn ticks — each one destroys 5% of the minions' MAX HP to a 50% cap, and Tainted Klyssus takes 10% MORE damage from HP Burn — and Artak is the only champion on the roster who activates burns on demand. A2 Dogs Of War instantly activates every HP Burn on the boss and both minions before attacking, then lands a 75% AoE 50% Decrease ATK (which also duplicates Aox's main job). A3 Purifyre plants the burns himself at 75% AoE, and A1 has a 35% chance to extend them. His passive destroys 5% of his own MAX HP per activation to a 50% cap, converting into +50% DMG, +50% C.DMG, +50% DEF, +100 SPD and +100 RES — and activations are constant here, so he caps fast. Fresh HH 10/10 Ice Golem AND 10/10 Ice Golem Hard. THE SWAP IS FORCED, NOT PREFERRED: Artak and Khamir cannot share a team in ANY content, because Khamir's A1 restores all allies' destroyed MAX HP every turn and erases Artak's entire passive. Hard mode's burn-activation mechanic makes Artak the higher-value half of that choice. COST, PLAINLY: the comp loses Khamir's full-team revive and per-turn heal, leaving sustain to Doompriest and Geomancer's Stoneguard. If runs DIE rather than time out, put Khamir back and bench Artak. Artak is 5★ (queue #3) — this is an Ideal seat until he ascends.
